Get "smokey eye" make up tips from our make up professionals! Big hair is back! Have one of our stylists show you what volume is all about with our latest volumizing products. Complimentary brow and lash tinting will be provided by our estheticians. Chair massages and rock star polish changes will also be available!Shop an array of vendors while you listen to the vocal stylings of...yourself! That's right, there will be a KARAOKE CONTEST during the event so don't forget to dress the part of your favorite '80s musician! Kick Off for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Avalon believes strongly in supporting local and national charities. For the month of October, help our team raise money for breast cancer awareness. This year we are offering an array of ways you can help find a cure including; removeable pink hair extensions ($10 donation), Denim Days ($5 Donation),Breast Cancer Awareness socks ($5 donation), Breast Cancer Awareness Aveda T-Shirts ($25 donation), or the Aveda Hand Relief Breast Cancer Limited Edtion ($21 donation). Every dollar earned from these items are donated to local and national breast cancer charities. Your support is greatly appreciated!

Owners Bonnie Conte and Shyla Samel-Kurnick attended the Salon Today 360 Degrees awards ceremony at the Hard Rock Hotel in downtown Chicago. While attending, both had the opportunity to participate in advanced educational classes for the salon and spa industry.

"Trip to Berlin" Stylist Competition

Stylists from Avalon participated in their 2nd annual stylist competition for a seat at Aveda's Mater Jam 2008 held in Berlin, Germany. Stylists were judged on hair, make up and wardrobe. A panel of 5 judges was selected to participate in the Berlin Competition. The judges made up some of the most talented, professional and creative minds in the salon and fashion industry.Thank you to all who participated in Avalon's "Trip to Berlin" stylist competition on Sunday, February 10th! Christine received 1st place, Anastasia 2nd and Elizabeth received 3rd place. Congratulations!

Evening of Excellence Banquet
Avalon was nominated for two 2007 Lake Zurich Area Chamber of Commerce Awards: Marketing and Outstanding Interior Improvement. We are proud to have accepted the 2007 Award for Marketing. Co-owner Bonnie Conte has accepted a position on the Board of Directors for the Lake Zurich Area Chamber of Commerce for 2008-2009. She is also an active member of the LZINC Chamber Networking group.
Along with joining the Board of Directors for the LZACC, Bonnie has also been nominated by her peers in the PBA (Professional Beauty Association) and has accepted a position on the PBA's Cutting-Edge Mentor Program. This position will involve her traveling and providing telephone coaching to new salons. She will assist them in business expertise on topics from finance and staffing, to decor. Bonnie is proud to be among the elite group of PBA mentors.

Avalon Salon and Day Spa was selected for Macy's Glamorama 2007; The Good, The Bad and the Beautiful. Their creative hair team prepared models for the catwalk. New fall collections were featured by Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, and more! Clinton Kelly, co-host of TLC's What Not To Wear was the master of ceremonies, while country super stars Big & Rich and Gretchen Wilson performed during the event.
Avalon Salon is very pleased and excited to have participated in this tremendous industry event. Avalon's creative hair team has been asked to participate in Macy's GLAMORAMA 2008! More details to come!
